        Yield

The return earned on an investment taking into account the annual income and its present capital value. There are a number of different types of yield, and in some cases different methods of calculating each type.

Internal rate of return expressed as a percentage.

The percentage rate of return paid on a stock in the form of dividends, or the effective rate of interest paid on a bond or note.

1. A measure of the income generated by a bond, it is calculated as the amount of interest paid on a bond divided by the price.

The amount of income an investment delivers after deduction of charges (but not tax) expressed as a percentage of the amount invested. Usually expressed as an annual figure - e.g. "the fund"s estimated gross yield is 5.9% p.a."
